sharing files

I've set up two computers on a home network with a
router. Desktop is the ICS and notebook is the client
with a wireless adapter attached. I am unable to share
files on the ICS and when I do the Setup Wizard it knocks
my internet connection off the notebook.

The router is between the notebook and desktop. What is
a residential gateway? Is this what the problem is.

the router should be sharing the internet not your desktop
(unless your using dialup)
