sharing files using windows xp networking

Dee

Networked 2 home computers together, one Uses Windows 98,
the other XP. From the win 98 computer, tried to file
share but instead of using the file sharing feature I
dragged and dropped the folder I wanted to share into the
shared documents folder. In doing so, it transferred my
network connection along with that folder to the other
computer (the one using XP). On the XP computer in the
network places, the network icon (for the win98 computer)
changed its looks from the computer name to the file
folder name that was dragged and dropped into the shared
folder. The win98 computer no longer has the shared file
folder showing on the hard drive. I tried to system
recover to move the network connection back to the win98
computer but I didn't work. Any suggestions?

This happened to me in similar circumstances. I take it
that you can't access the Shared Docs folder. You should
find that it reappears if you elect to show all hidden
files and folders on your computer. I thought mine had
been deleted somehow on another client on a network, but
it was just hidden as it turns out. I'm not sure that you
can delete that folder. Sorry, I can't remember off the
top of my head where you go to show hidden files.

Hope this helps
