XP Pro Networking-HAH

I know this has been asked before, and there are several
threads regarding this, but I can't seem to find the
answer. I have two PC's with Windows XP Pro networked
through a hub. Several of the directories have been
shared. I can get access to some of them, but I can't
seem to get access to others, ever. And the printer
seems to disappear as well. Like I said, I have seen
several threads, but some had no conclusion, and other
resolutions didn't work (Adding an account to both
machines, turning the firewall off, Turn On NetBIOS over
TCP/IP, making sure computer browsing was on). This is
now starting to cost me money. I don't have time to
review all of the posts, I just need to know what works.
Anybody have any further suggestions?

I have the same setup as you and I have the same problem. Here's what I
just did to work around it.

Open My Network Places.

Click View Workgroup Computers

Right click the networked computer and create a shortcut on the desktop.
If you are on Computer 1 Right click Computer 2. If you are on Computer 2,
Right click Computer 1.

Every shared folder will be accessible by using that new shortcut even if
they don't show up in My Network Places. I don't understand why, and I
finally gave up after spending a couple of hours trying to figure it out.

Thanks Joe. That resolved the issue!

You're welcome. I literally stumbled on that solution a couple of hours
ago, simply by clicking around My Network Places. There were a lot of
clicks - LOL.
