Steve Winkeljohn

I've shared files for years, and used the briefcase
function on my laptop to replicate "My Documents."

Recently I put a password on my single User Name on my
office system, and lost access to "My documents" from the
laptop. I've since removed the password but am still
unable to access. "My documents" is under C:\files &
settings\Steve which shows a checkmark, indicating
private, on the shared files setup screen, but the setting
is dimmed and the hint says that the setting cannot be
changed because this folder is part of another private
folder. I can not find the "containing" folder. Starting
at C:, I've set everything I can to shared, but my files
remain unsharable.

Can anyone offer a suggestion/explanation?

Thanks

Steve,

I guess that, if you had set the same password on the other
computer as well, you would still be able to access the folder.
You could even try that now.

Here I'm less certain. Perhaps somebody else can chime in.

Perhaps you can find some inspiration in
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm, but it could be that it
is really only an access rights issue, which is not considered
in that Web page.
