Hi guys

I am running Vista x64 Beta2 and have an Epson Photo 895 printer connected
on USB. I want to share this printer with the rest of my home network which
runs XP pro 32 bit.

When I add the printer on my XP pro 32 it finds the printer on my Vista pc
but cant find any drivers. I have downloaded 32 bit drivers from Epson but
these are compacted into a self extracting file so I cant actually get at
the drivers themselves.

Can anyone tell me how to install the 32 bit drivers on Vista x64 so my wife
can print form her networked XP pro 32 laptop before she goes insane or does
me damage lol.

Cheers

Try downloading a trial of winrar and see if it will unpack the exe file.

I installed WinRar and can examine the files in the self extracting zip, but
all the dll files have the last letter missing and an underscore in its
place eg E_DCON02.DL_ so extracting these files would not be any good.

Can anyone offer any other help

Cheers

Do you have a copy of Windows on a CD? Look at the files on it. Then look
at the files that don't end in an underscore. One of those files is an
executable that will expand/decompress/rename/fix the file. Hint for the
clueless: expand file utility.

Sorted it now thanks. Did as suggest with the expand utility and changed the
file extensions to what they should be. Now I was able to install the 32bit
drivers. One problem that I did have, was that although the drivers
installed on my Vista machine, when I tried to connect to the printer over
the network is still suggested that drivers where not available, and so I
had to install the 32bit drivers locally to the XP pro computer.

Now I can print over the network.

Cheers guys for your help.
