I am in the process of scanning in some old photo albums from my parents
dating back to the early 1900's. I have them in my Digital Image Suite
Library with captions and labels and now would like to make all of this
available to my brothers, nieces, and nephews by purchasing the Microsoft
software for them and getting them copies of the pictures. It appears the
labels and captions from the Library that I have added should be stored in
the photo but when burning a Sharing Disc that information does not seem
stay. Does anyone know how to share these pictures along with the meta data
I have included with the captions and labels?

Thanks

The metadata not included in your image
files will be in your Pictures.pd3 database.

C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\
Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\
POD\Pictures.pd3

If you cannot find Pictures.pd3...open a
folder and go to...Tools / Folder Options /
View tab...

Tick..."Show hidden files and folders" /
Apply / OK.

When the Library is installed it creates a
new Pictures pd3 file. In order to view the
same data you have on a different computer
the user would have to replace (overwrite)
their Pictures.pd3 file with a copy of yours.

It's a good idea to make regular backup
copies of your Pictures.pd3 file.

Also...you may find the following info to be
useful:

Sharing Digital Image Suite
2006 Database between users

The method in the article is for multiple
users on a single machine but may be
adapted to a network.

The library is designed for each user to have
a separate .pd3 file. Issues may develop if
both users access and edit the shared file at
the same time.
