Sharing diary/contacts over internet?

Here's the situation - a friend and myself own and run a company and
we are the two sole employees. We can't spend money on Exchange Server
etc but we do both work from home and need access to a shared diary
and contact system. We both have broadband and I have a fixed IP and
know about running http and ftp servers.

Is there anything that will allow us to share a diary and contact
system? I don't mind if it's web based or if it runs on one of my PCs
at home, but ease of use is paramount and free is prefered.....

Any ideas?

have you thought about something simple as an MSN or a yahoo groups page
with password access, and calendar/contact dbase?
it's pretty easy to set up, and I've done similar things with my
telecommuting jobs.

We're using Yahoo at the moment....Yahoo Mail has a built in
Contacts and Calendar system and also free software to enable
it to sync with Outlook, etc. As long as we remember to make
sure that the contacts are in the right category and that the
diary entries are prefixed correctly then only the shared info
is sync'd and we both have access.

I just wondered if there was something that was (a) quicker,
(b) more reliable and (c) advert free.

Take a look at LiveJournal http://www.livejournal.com.
