Hi

We have unique requirements as follows:

1)CD Writer is in only one system on the network and we
get request from the user to burn a CD of their data.
To do this we often copy their data to the local system of
CD Writer and burn a CD. This process takes lot of time.
Is there a way to burn a CD directly from the client system
by sharing the folder/file with the same speed as we burn
a CD on local. Also please advise any software which free
or cheapest to do this task.

2) We also require solution to manage PCs on the network
remotely without installation any software in the client
machine. Otherwise by advise efficient way of managing
PCs remotely by using any software.

regards,

You can solve both problems by using WinVNC. It's free.

1) You'll probably run into "buffer underrun" errors if you try to burn a CD
with files on a network share...but try and see.
2) If you have WinXP Pro workstations, you can use remote desktop -
otherwise, see one of the VNC variants or DameWare.

It's been my experience that "burning" from a remote location(even
100mbs network) results in frequent failure. (Approaching 50% at 8X) On
the other hand a copy and burn at 32X has not resulted in any failures
and takes less time.
