Sharing Applications over a home network

I am able to share documents and folders over my home network. I want
to share my Excel and Word from MS Office. My computer recognizes the
Office folder but I can't open Excel or Word. I get the message 'the
operating system is not currently configured to run this application'.
I am currently running XP on both computers and have a linksys router
that is functioning properly.

Is it possible to run an application over a home network? If so, how
do I accomplish this feat?

Thanks much in advance,

Mack

Mack,

most applications are intentionally written such that they
cannot be shared. The most common method to achieve this is that
they use the registry, which is always local.

There are some exceptions, for example Agent, a popular
newsreader. These programs don't use the registry and can be
started directly on a server.

So, do you know how I can share Excel? Do you know how to manipulate
the registry so I can run Excel over my home network?

Mack,

no, sorry, I wouldn't know how to do that. I think it is not
possible at all.
