I need to make a folder on my PC private and set a
password up, but when I right click on the folder and
select sharing and security the 'make this folder
private' box is greyed out making it unavailable. I tried
it on my other PC and it worked fine. I'm using Windows
XP professional can anyone shed some light on the problem
please.

Thanks Michael Eves

That option is only available if the drive is formatted NTFS.
If your drive is FAT32, you can't use this option.

It is possible to convert a drive from FAT to NTFS.
Go to Help and Support, and simply do a search on 'convert'.
It's the only topic that pops up.

Don't share files or printers unless you are behing a good
router with VPN. Anyone could hack you using NetBIOS if
you don't...

Running a firewall program, like XP's built-in Internet Connection
Firewall, will prevent anyone from hacking into your shared files and
printers from the Internet.
