Sharing and Network problems

I can set up local network, but can not setup sharing.

2 PC's (both xp pro)
1 Gateway (2 NIC's)
Reloaded Win XP pro on gateway
Cable modem (cox)

I establish network is working and than setup sharing.
- Once I set up sharing, I no longer have the local network.... Consequntly, no internet or network access from client. I have tried everything at my disposal... now pulling hair out!

Any help or suggestions?

make sure no firewall running on the LAN connection.

firewall running only on gateway..

also, i have this system running for about 2 years....

Problem, only recently.
