Sharing Address book with Outlook and OE

I have Office XP Professional installed on my desktop and
my laptop. Both are running XP Home. On my desktop I
can share my Outlook Contacts with Outlook Express (OE).
I can not on my laptop. I believe installs and
application versions are latest and the same on each. In
OE on desktop, in Address Book/Tools/Options I have two
choices 1) Share contact information among Microsoft
Outlook ... and 2) Do not share contact information among
Microsoft Outlook ... . I have option (1) chosen and OE
uses the Outlook Contact file, as I want. I have to run
both. On my laptop, I do NOT have the Address
Book/Tools/Options choice, but have the Snychronize Now
choice not available on my desktop. I've researched in
knowledge data base and other sources but can not find
out why. What I do find is info for older versions of
Outlook and OE with options I do not have. Is there
something in Outlook set incorrectly, or are some files
in wrong places, or ... ? Thanks in advance for your
assistance.
