I am having a problem sharing a printer.

I run a workgroup enviroment with XP PRO everywhere.

I set up a PRINTER on one machine and shared it.

None of my other computer can see it.

Is there a way to share the printer with out each person
having to Log Onto the Printer Machine?

I tried giving the GUEST account Access to the Printer,
but that does not seem to work.

Anyone have any idea's

a) Ensure the ICF (internet connection firewall) is turned off. WindowsXP
ICF is not designed for use on a network. If you need software firewall,
use third party software like Zone Labs' ZoneAlarm (www.zonelabs.com)

b) Ensure the network is correctly configured... in order for the other PCs
to be able to print, they must be able to see the printer on your XP PC.

www.practicallynetworked.com is about the best site for troubleshooting.

c) Ensure the shared name of the printer is less than 12 characters/numbers
with NO SPACES in it.

Thanks ..

I check ed everything and it was all up to par, I just
can not see the printer. It is very strange.

Any other idea's.

Look in the properties of the printer......

If there is a Security tab, ensure you have correctly set the permissions
for EVERYONE to be able to print.

If you are not running a Server/Domain network then you
will need to run the Network ID untility under My
Computer/Properties on each workstation to give them an ID
on the network.
I hope this will help you, Lyle :-)
