I have a laptop and a PC on a MS Net work. I want both PC's to use just one
My Documents on just the regular PC so all our documents are together. Is
there an easy way to set it up this way? I'm using Window XP Pro on both
computers.

I've been reading Microsoft TechNets and the question/answers on here but
I'm so confused. Can you at least lead me in ther right direction?

On the desktop machine you can create a shared folder (this is really the
closest you can come to this). You can put it as something like C:\My Shared
Docs and then you can browse to that (make sure you set it as a shared
folder of course with the proper permissions) and even make a shortcut to it
on your laptop's desktop screen or in the start menu or where ever you would
like.

"In solving a problem of this sort, the grand thing is to be able to reason
backwards. That is a very useful accomplishment, and a
very easy one, but people do not practise it much. In the every-day affairs
of life it is more useful to reason forwards, and so
the other comes to be neglected. There are fifty who can reason
synthetically for one who can reason analytically." - Sherlock

Default folder /Shared Documents was created for exactly
this purpose. But if this does not suit you, filepath to
/My Documents is kept in the Registry, so can be altered by
REGEDIT.EXE. You could experiment thus (separately on
both laptop an desktop.)
1. Write down proposed exact filepath to networked
My Documents (including double slash etc.)
2. Back up old Registry so you can restore it at will. and
write down the file folder where you saved the backup.
3. Search Registry for every filepath to (your unique and
personal) My Documents (NB not those for Administrator
or Guest or any other users) and alter it to the network
filepath as in #1.
4. Reboot and test. If the PC does not run OK, restore
the Registry from your backup (on both machines.)
