Sharing a folder causes instant reboot

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having on my Windows XP
Home PC. It's something I've never noticed up til recently as I've just
started networking the PC, so as to what I've installed or what's changed on
this PC, I can't really offer any information. It's a fairly clean build, no
weird stuff. Just basic stuff.

Anyways, whenever I go to share a folder, Right Click folder, Properties,
Sharing and Security...well, when I type a share name and click either OK or
Apply, the machine reboots. Instantly. No messages, nothing, just totally
reboots. I'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction? I've
not added any weird hardware or anything, but I suspect it could be hardware.
I've never had the machine reboot on any other issue other than this
networking.

If you need any info, please ask and I can provide it.

Thanks in advance for anyone tackling this one.

Hi i seem to be having the same problem when i try to access any files over my network but only when i try to access files from my base unit(wired) either from my dell laptop(wireless) or ps3(wired). The problem is identical no warning just the monitor goes black and the machine automatically reboots.
I'm using a buffalo wbr g54 router the base unit is a homemade from bits and pieces but basically an athlon64 with 1gb memory running xp home, i'm using norton anti-virus/internet security on the base unit.
