Hi Guys,

I do not use Movie maker at all but do tech support for my church as far as
simple issues with the network, hardware etc, word, excel etc....One of the
youth ministers is making a commercial and the file plays fine on his
computer but when he saves the file (I think he just moved it from his
desktop to a shared folder) When he opened it on another computer with
moviemaker on it, the picture files and sound files didn't work. I clicked
around and noticed that the path to the pictures was located on his laptop.
Does this program work similar to a webpage in that any files you use need
to be in a shared folder? He assumed that the pictures were copied into the
movie. How can we work so he can create his movie on his laptop, save the
file to a network drive then pull it up on another computer on the network?

Thanks,
Linda

The Moie Maker project consists of references to the real media files
together with the instructions for how to make a movie. The movie is not
complete unless one renders the movie explicitly.

To Save the Movie:
------------------
To save as movie, use menu File -> "Save MOVIE As" or press key Ctrl-P
or use the "Save to my computer" under "Finish Movie" step on the left
hand task bar.

In the Save Movie wizard, first screen allows you to select a name for
the saved movie and the next screen is "Movie Settings". Click on "Show
more options..." and you will have all the different options to select.
Complete the remaining steps.

To Move the Project:
--------------------
Move a porjkect file from one computer to another for continueing
editing on the other computer.... requires moving not just the project
but all the media files used in it. The folder paths of the media files
are not required to be the same. Open the project on the new computer,
it will show all the timeline/storyboard filled with red crosses. Double
clicking on those would allow one to locate the media files and fix up
the references. Ususally fixing one reference is enough as it locates
all other files as well.

Thanks, that makes sense. I imagine the file would be huge if it saved all
of the media with it.
