I am attempting to share a file among users on my system. The system is a
dual core intel Vista box with 3.3Gig RAM and 460Gig HDD. What happens
is...not much! The little cyclops eye scans back and forth for half an hour
and it STILL isn't complete. Is this usual? What am I doing wrong?

It's hard to answer your question because you forgot to tell us:

1. What exactly "share a file" means. Let others have access to it? Have
everyone access it at the same time (normally not possible)? Etc.

2. Where the file is located; i.e., C:\Users\your-user\Documents.

3. Details of the file. What is it?

4. What happens "not much" when? When you or the other users do what?

Without any specifics, all I can suggest is if you mean you want all users
on the box to have access to the file, like it is a music file and everyone
can listen separately, just put it in Public.

ANSWER: Give another user on the computer access to it when both users are
logged on.
2. Where the file is located; i.e., C:\Users\your-user\Documents.

ANSWER: Exactly. It's a Word document I want us both to be able to work on.
3. Details of the file. What is it?

ANSWER: See above.
4. What happens "not much" when? When you or the other users do what?

ANSWER: Well, see...the computer just grinds away and that goes on for half
an hour and still the sharing doesn't happen. What I did was I went into
User1's account (mine) who is an Admin and right clicked and "shared" it. I
never got any further. Just that grinding and then I aborted it.

ANSWER: I hope my answers have clarified. In the end I did exactly what
someone else suggested. I put it in the Public folders folder. I just wanted
to get the sharing approach done though, as my understanding.

You solved it. Each user's directory is private from the other users. The
Public directory is exactly the solution to your problem, as I and others
suggested.
