I have two computers one Windows 2000 and the other Windows XP connected in a
workgtoup. I have a dvd drive on the Windows 2000 computer, and i need the
dvd drive to be shared and acessable from the Xp computer. Is this Possible?
If yes then could you explain how to do that?
Thanks.

You share that drive the same as you share any other device or folder -
right-click and select Properties, then the Sharing tab.

I,ve already tried it, and the other computer still doesn't see it. Is there
another way to share it?

Administrative tools>local security policy>security options.

Restrict CD ROM to locally logged on users only might be set, it needs to be
disabled.

Then you need to have a user set up with the same credentials as your XP
machine - I assume you already have this if other shared files can be seen.

Not sure if this is the answer but worth a look at security policy.

Thanks, i've checked but it's already disabled. The problem might be that
it's a removable drive, i bought it separatly from the computer. Do you know
if I can share that?

I can share my removable (USB) MP3 player so I don't see why not.

I assume it is showing up in "My computer" like any other drive. Don't you
get the share option in the right click menu?

Easiest way to make sure is that same user with same password is set up on
both machines, with permission to access in both sharing and NTFS file
permissions.

Did you try right click on "My computer" and >Map Network Drive?
