I have a PC in my office and another at home. I would
like to be able to access my office PC and run QuickBooks
from home. Is there some way I can share the c: drive on
my office computer with the one at home without buying an
application such as PC anywhere? Can't I get to that
computer if I know the IP address?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Set up VPN access. I would not recommend running an application over the
Internet. Install the app on both PCs, then access the QB database over the
Internet.

You can.
net use x: \\192.168.xxx.xxx\c /user:XXXXX *
If You use WinNT, Win2000, WinXP

But don't run programs over internet unless Your connection is very stable
and fast. And secure.

This is very bad - you do not want to open a share across the internet,
ESP TO ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNTING FILES! It would open them to everyone on
the internet.

What you want to do is setup a VPN connection to the computer and access
it directly THROUGH the VPN tunnel.

Do not expose the PC directly to the internet you are asking to have
your data shared with the world.

You need to tell us about the office network in order for us to provide
a secure solution for you.

A segguestion would be to use Radmin. This application
allows you to use the security of NT to login to your
desktop. A VPN is the best solution but it involve the
setup of a Windows Server if I'm right. This application
will run on the desktop and wait ontil you login. It will
be just as you were in front of the desktop. Only the
information that you type will be sent accross the
internet. It's almost the same as Termerinal server with
all the security. It works great. If you have on High
speed internet on both sides make sure you have a firewall
on each end. You can redirect the ports on the firewall
to the machine that host the radmin. The firewall will
protect you network from hacker looking for a site. Now
if security is a big issue and you dialing in, it might
not be the best solution.

Happy networking
