Sharing a CD-Rom w/laptop?

Is there a way to use the CD-ROM on my desktop to install software onto my
notebook? I have spent hours trying to setup a home network with a
crossover cable and I can't get that to work. Both computers use XP (one is
XP Home, one is XP Professional). Thank you.

I think this is OT and you better post this in a XP-group, but a quick
