Is there anyone out there using Microsoft Sharepoint - either the portal or
the services. Or do you know if there's a usergroup anywhere that I can tap
into.

If you search msnews for "sharepoint," you'll find a couple of Sharepoint
Team Services NGs and a whole hierarchy of
microsoft.public.sharepoint.portalserver ones.
