I've just upgraded from Win ME to Win XP and keep getting
a flurry of DOS screens which display the nessage "shared
resource does not exist". They seem to be referring to a
file cmd.exe.

Any ideas on how to stop this?

TIA

CMD.exe is the executable file for the DOS Command Prompt.
What exactly are you trying to run when this error comes up?
Does this error come up when booting your PC?
Need more info to troubleshoot this problem.

I don't seem to be trying to run anything in particular,
just seems to happen at random intervals; not at boot up,
just when using the PC. 3 or so DOS windows appear in
quick succession with the last one being the only one you
get any chance to read and then they vanish!

cmd.exe does exist in c:\windows\system32 which I assume
is where it's meant to be since I've certainly not moved
it anywhere...

Thanks,
Jane
