We have a small Windows network here in our office. We
have a Windows 2003 Server with Active Directory. We have
several Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro PCs, all joined to
the domain.
On one of the Windows XP Pro PCs, we have attached a HP
Color LaserJet 2500 printer via the LPT1 port. This is
printer is then setup as shared.
If the normal user logs into the Windows XP PC that the
printer is attached to, she cannot print, nor can anyone
else print to the printer that is shared on her PC.
However, it the domain admin account logs in to her PC,
then both local and network printing work.
We have tried several things, including setting up the
printer while logged in as the normal network user, and
also as the domain admin. We have also made the user's
domain account part of the administrator's group on the
local PC, as well as on the domain. Still doesn't work.
The only way it works is if the domain admin is logged in
to her PC.
Any ideas or suggestions?
