hello,

i saw a computer at the store that looked good. but it uses the ATI
Radeon Xpress 1100. i believe this is a shared memory chip design
built onto the motherboard.

if the system has a video chip on the motherboard, can you buy a
graphics card and "override" the standard computer video? basically,
i'd like to have the computer ignore the ATI 1100 circuits it has and
use the aftermarket graphics card instead.

Ofcurse, just plug the card in ,install drivers and enjoy :)

Probably.

Check whether it has an available PCI Express X16 slot. That's what you'd
prefer to use to obtain a graphics card with better performance than the
onboard. (Don't get plain old PCI. That's a very different type of card, as
is AGP.)

Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.
