Some background information 1st. Home network consists of
a XP Pro machine, a Win2000 machine and 2 logic
controllers. There is also a XP Pro laptop that moves
between the network at home and the one at the office.
Office network is collection of XP and Win2000 PCs with
several logic controllers added to the mix. Both network
are Workgroups having the same name. Laptop has a 802.11G
wireless adapter built in. The machines at home go back
to a Linksys 4 port wireless access point. I am
considering sharing the internet connection on the home
XP Pro PC. Both workgroups are static IP addressing, life
is easier that way because of the logic controllers.
The question is can Internet Connection Sharing be used
on a STATIC addressed network?
Also can the IP address of the host be changed to
something other than 192.168.0.1?
Our current network range from 192.168.0.1 to .254 The
host would need to be .72 Is this possible or should I
just move the phone line around?
Wouldn't mind sitting in the living room and use the
laptop with internet access.
Thanks in Advance

Yes. When you configure an ICS client with a static IP address, make
all of these settings:

IP Address: 192.168.0.x (1<x<255)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: IP address of ICS host
DNS Server = IP address of ICS host
Also can the IP address of the host be changed to
something other than 192.168.0.1?

Yes. Changing the IP address of the host's LAN connection to another
192.168.0.x address after enabling ICS should be fine.

..72 is fine. I don't understand the question about the phone line.

Steve,
Thanks for the response, will take a shot at setting this
up in the next few days.
Comment about phone line was just if this could not be
setup this way, I would have to be content with moving
the dial up line between laptop and desktop.
Thanks again
Alan
