Shared Folders Won't Go Away!

About six months ago it was necessary to share about six
directories on one of our workstations that runs Win98SE.
This was done so that some of the users could map a
directory structure to a drive on their machine.

The situation has now changed, and the shares were removed
from the 98 machine. In fact, the directories themselves
no longer exist. However, all our workstations, including
two that are running 98SE and four with XP still show
those shared resources. Even when going to the "entire
network" and drilling down through the workgroup to the
offending machine. Expanding the offending machine's
listing shows the 'phantom' directories.

Any ideas??

The network is a Windows network, 9 workstations under a
single workgroup; no domains. One additional machine runs
Win 2000 Server.

Thanks,

Bob Weaver

Bob,

the users can simply delete them, but I think they should go
away on their own after a couple of weeks.

Does anybody have some more details on this? Do they always all
reliably go away on their own? After how many weeks?
