Shared Folders Icon Red Cross...

I am running a small office network, 10 client PC's
running W2000Pro and one PC running XP Pro acting as a
server with several shared folders. Occasionally the
clients get a shared folder icon with the red cross
although they are still connected. What is causing this?
 
Hi Ben,

One thing you could be running into is the limited number of machines that
can connect to a share on a workstation (whether it's Windows XP Pro or
Windows 2000 Pro). These products do not allow any more than 10
connections to shares on them.

Another thing you could be running into is the Autodisconnect feature. To
preserve resources, clients and servers will automatically disconnect if
those sessions are idle for a period of time (usually 15 minutes).
