I have two computers connected directly to each other,
both running winxp pro.
The tw ocomputers are able to share an internet
connection, to play network games, to remote desktop to
each other and perform many other tasks, but form some
reason one computer ( the gateway) refuses to allow the
other to view its shared folders or to connect at all in
that respect., dropping an 'access is denied' error.
I have turned simple file sharing off and on, activated
and deactivated the guest account, changed the IRPstack..
to corrct values, restarted innumerable times, run the
Network setup wizard many times, checked the hardware
involved, removed all firewalls, uninstalled and
reinstalled netowkr protocols, unshared and reshared the
folders and all to no avail. I am reaching the end of my
possibilities on this one and would appreciate any
possible assistance.

hi,

have you checked your binding order of your computer?

In the advanced options of Network Connections.

Put your internal card on top!

With kind regards,

There is no firewall running, Ive checked that. Could
someone please explain binding order? Or perhaps a
different method of getting round this problem?
Thanks

Have you tried enabling Netbios over TCP/IP on both machines - this is
in the Advanced TCP/IP properties under the Wins tab.
