Hello, I am trying to open a shared folder that resides on
a Windows 2000 computer. I am using WinXP, the problem I
am encountering is that the folder is shared on the
Win2000 PC and My PC is set up on the folder's permissions
but I am still getting "folder is not accessible" message
everytime I try to click on the folder on my PC. Can
anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

If you are trying to access this folder across the network on the Win2K
machine, are you able to access any other folders on that machine?

Yes, the Win2K pc has a printers folder that I am able to
access and view the contents inside (in other words the
other shared printers). Do you think I have to create an
account on the Win2K machine? If so how would I do that?
You may be accessing the printers folder because of the way the printer is
networked. Are you able to access other folders to which you have
permissions besides the Printers folder? Are you able to accss all other
folders on that system to which you should have access? What I'm trying to
find out is if you are actually able to access the machine or if you are
being blocked. There are some reasons why that might not apply to the
printer or printers folder.

If you are having a general problem accessing other folders, it may be a
networking issue. Conversely, the network setup might be fine but if
there's a firewall on the machine, that might be blocking access. In fact,
any security software might superscede the permissions being granted unless
your system is properly setup to be allowed by the security software.

Anyway, that is what I was trying to determine and, unfortunately, I can't
determine that by the printers folder alone.

Hello Michael, I ran a test on that pc and had the user
set up another shared folder granting me permission to
access it and you are correct, when I try to view it's
contents on my pc, I am still getting a folder not
accessible message. Any suggestions?
