OK, I've been seeing this same problem over and over again in the past few
days postings.

\\P4p800\TEST02 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if
you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to
process this command.

I am having trouble accessing shared files on an XP pro system. "My network
places" will show all computers on network and will show all shared files
for each system. The XP pro system can access all shared files on workgroup
systems however, other workgroup systems can see xp pro's shared files but
can not access them.

I am the administrator and I did not set any new password for these shared
files. I have a system with win 98, win xp home, and win xp pro. It seems
only the xp pro is having the access denied problem.

This is a peer-to-peer network with a linksys 4 port router. I can access
the internet fine on all systems. When trying to access shared files
through the "view workgroup computers" window
while on the xp pro system, the same error message appears however I can
access the same shared files in any "explorer" window. Everything "seems"
to be set up right. Everything worked fine until about a week ago (after I
downloaded security patches).

Microsoft moderators, you might want to start looking into this one.
Please.

This error indicates that you are falling foul of the IRPStackSize bug.

The problem is on the machine you are attempting to connect to,
not the machine where you see the error message.

On the computer you are attempting to connect to,
Check the event viewer for an event ID 2011.

Usual fix :
You need to fix a parameter called IRPStackSize

On the computer you are attempting to connect to,
Set the IRPStackSize back to the default (15 ).
Perform the following steps:

1. Start the registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\lanmanserver\parameters.
3. Double-click IRPStackSize
(or if this registry setting doesn't exist, create it of
type DWORD and ensure the case is correct).
4. Change the base to decimal, set the value to 15, and click OK.
5. Reboot the computer.

Norton AV is usual suspect for breaking it.

There's a KB article about this, too.

Antivirus Software May Cause Event ID 2011 (Q177078)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;177078

Wow, that fixed it. I've been trying to figure this one out for 3 weeks. I
did notice the events log mentioning the IRPstack but I didn't know enough
about it to take any appropriate action.

I am so grateful. Thank you soooooooooo very much.

And yes I have Norton AV. Would this issue have been listed in Microsofts
database? Also I'm wondering, do you know if the WindowXP Resource Kit is
in depth enough to troubleshoot issues such as these? I may just get a
copy.

Thanks again so much,

Roger
