david o.

I'm having trouble using Shared Fax. Using the Shared fax
service console or through outlook I can get the modem to
dial and send a handshake signal but then an "unknown
fatal error" develops. In the event log I get error 32028
at first and then 32027 (after all retry attempts have
failed). I 'm running SBS 2000 and have a USR internal
faxmodem. I can fax without problem with Microsoft fax,
but despite disabling MS Fax service, the SharedFax never
works.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
David

I am having the same trouble. I installed and configured the fax modem to
my w2k3 server yesterday - with no trouble i can receive faxes. for
testing i am faxing a document from my pc to my the physical fax machine
in my office. the fax server is located at a remote location. domain
users group has been added to the fax operators group and appropriate
permissions given. i initiate the fax process and through remote
administration i can watch the fax console on the server, i hear the fax
machine in my office ring at the same time i see the job in the fax queue
- but then it just says fatal error - and i have the same 32028 error in
the event log. I also would appreciate any suggestions

Hi,

I solve this problem change the drivers of my modem (that is a V.92 modem)
to generic 56.6 V.90 modem and it work fine.

Bye
