Hi, I work in an office where 4 individuals are keying
data into a single EXCEL file placed on the company's
server. We all are running the same OS (W2K) and the
same version of EXCEL (2K SR1).
Recently we have suddenly begun receiving application
errors upon attempting to accesst the file when someone
else has been working on it, or is sharing the file at
that moment.
We have made an effort to keep an eye that the 'share this
workbook' tick is always kept checked on, that is the
first attempt at solving this problem we took.

However, the problem still exists, anyone have any other
ideas? Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi,

You are not going to like my reply.

I always advise NOT to use Excel's sharing options. They
are unreliable.

Crashes and loss of data are reported far to often to call
this a reliable function in Excel.

If you really need to share information with a couple of
users, use a database system such as Access. Programs like
these are built to share information and to enable users
to edit them simultaniously, Excel isn't IMO.
