My son has a Mac and informed me that when he is on our home
network, he sees a shared folder called Virus.
I haven't found anything in my searches on the net. Has anyone
encountered something like this, and if so, how did you deal
with it.
How many computing devices do you have on your network? Be as precise
as possible, and list all devices in terms such as "windows-based" or
"Linux based" or "Apple" "desktop / laptop / netbook" or "smart phone"
or "network attached storage" or "set-top media player (ie apple TV or
similar)" or "ipad/ipod".
In order to find this "virus" folder, you'll need to browse your network
with a "trusted" (non-infected) machine, so you'll have to tell us what
sort of machines (PC's) you have on your network. If you do have a
machine with a virus and it is hosting the "virus" folder, it may not
allow you to discover that folder while browsing from itself.
For some tips, see these:

I have a "virus" folder on all my PC's - it's where I place suspected or
known malware files that I encounter or seek out over time. Are you
sure that someone on your network might not also have a similar folder?
Perhaps being shared unintentionally?
Also - if you have a WIFI access point as part of your network, is it
possible that an outside computer is attaching itself to your network?
