Using XP
If the directory "Shared documents" is shared on the ICS server pc, does
this mean it's also shared with the internet or just the LAN?
I noticed a load of worm.spybot runme.exe files have been dropped on my
machine in the short period since the hardware firewall died.
If so, I wish microsoft had placed a warning in the Security Settings dialog
box to tell you this!

I'm running AVG. Do antivirus packages allow virus files to be created like
this?

If you don't have a FireWall in place -- Shared with LAN and WAN !

Your ICS machine has two 'connections' defined (in control panel,
network connections) - one to the LAN, the other one to your ISP ..
yes?

You should have Client for MS networks and file & print sharing
protocols bound =only= to the local LAN connection, =not= to the
connection that goes out to the rest of the planet.

Many AV packages do not worry much about trojans and spyware. Use Spybot
S&D =as well= as the AVG package (www.security.kolla.de).

Unshare the shared docs folder and download a copy of Kerio PFW version
2.1.5 from www.kerio.com , immediately. Install it on the ICS Gateway. Read
the help file that is part of the application, thoroughly.Grant permission
under custom address groups only to those computers on your LAN. Make sure
you check all your machines to make sure none of them have any malware on
them.
Now you can assign shares.

You should be doing what's in the link below which is part of the link
below it, along with the advise given by the others.

In addition to the two steps mentioned below by another you also want to
"disable netbios over tcp/ip" on the internet facing adapter for its
TCP/IP settings.
