Is it possible (in code) to distinct between when a piece of shared
code is running on CF or the regular framework?

At compile time you are either in a CF project or in a desktop one.. there
is no built-in switch/define... Just define your own in project properties..
you will still need two projects sharing the code files... It has been
discussed before, check out:
