Shared borders don't update.. bug?

Hi group ...

Noticed something that seems a little weird, if not a bug. Using a site
with shared borders. Top is a banner, left is a navigation bar, and the
right (main) is the content.

I decided I was going to add another menu item, so I changed the
left.htm file in the _borders directory. I figured that's all I needed
to do.

When I loaded the index.htm file, it did pick up the change, but when I
FTP'd the updated borders file (to the appropriate directory), the all
the pages of the site didn't update. The index page did, but not the rest.

I'm a little confused. Shouldn't the site pick up the shared
information from left.htm and top.htm respectively?

What ended up working was FTP'ing each HTM file that I have and
overwriting the old one (no changes were made to any of those files).
Don't ask why, but it worked.

I even had cleared my cache and tried in IE and Firefox before
re-FTP'ing all the files.

Just curious as to why this is occuring? Shouldn't I just be able to
change the borders files themselves without having to re-upload the
entire site?

Using FP2003, if that matters. I use FTP rather than the publish
command as I can't change the remote computer's time zone. Therefore,
it tells me each time I want to publish that ALL my files are
out-of-sync and it never can fix itself due to the time difference. So,
I choose to FTP instead.

Thanks in advance!

As you discovered, you must upload all files that are changed. That
means all that use that shared border.

When using Shared Border or FP Include Pages, you must upload the complete site when you make
changes. If you have the FP extensions on the live/remote server and use FP http method to publish,
then you would only need to select to publish Change Pages Only.

Shared Borders and FP Include Pages are design-time components, not run-time, so the update only
take place in the FP client application or when you publish.
