Shared border problems

I'm having trouble with right shared borders on pages with tables. In normal
view they look fine. But in preview they appear at the bottom of the table.

I've read other questions submitted previously about shared borders. Some
have suggested using include files. I followed the instructions about
creating the files and calling them. No luck. The data that should appear
in the "right border" does not appear. Both called and calling files can be
previewed in browser separately fine.

I understand that the table must not have any mismatched tags. I reduced
the table to 1 row to make sure I could see errors easily - things were fine.

What's the URL ?

It's tatersacs.com.

Select The Series -
Improve Business Writing - Should have shared border on the left
Then
Select Sample Lessons -
Improve Business Writing - Should have data on right from included file

Been at this for so many hours I'm more confused than ever. Thanks so much...

Neither your left shared border page or your right shared border page has anything in it (but a comment - which never shows),
- so nothing will show in any pages that use it
At http://tatersacs.com/_borders/left.htm and http://tatersacs.com/_borders/right.htm you just have
<!--webbot bot="purpletext" preview="This border appears in all pages in your Web. Replace this comment with your own content." -->

In http://tatersacs.com/s_improve_writing.htm you are using a virtual include as
<!--#include virtual="s_sample_list.html"--> which does not exist, and is unsupported in .htm files
File not found for http://tatersacs.com/s_sample_list.html
The page is really at
http://tatersacs.com/s_sample_list.htm not http://tatersacs.com/s_sample_list.html
and you need to use a FP Design Time Include (not a virtual include)
Use Insert Web Component Included Content, Page and browse to the location in your web for s_samplelist.htm

Stefan, Thanks for you invaluable info!!! Too many hours at the PC last
night - 12 to be exact. Don't know how I lost the border info- swear it was
there...Anyway... Had looked for include on help screens in FP - no help --
so copied code from link I had found in one of the notes - that 's what
happens when you do something you don't understand. Thanks for setting me
straight. What you told me makes perfect sense. Tried it and it works
great. Now I can go back and fix the rest.

Thank you and all the rest of the folks who take the time and trouble to
help when we don't know where else to turn...Linda

What version of FP are you using?
If 2003 just type in Included Content in the search box on the right which
will take you to online help here:

http://office.microsoft.com/assista...gin=EC010231151033&QueryID=Xy48-ENzk&respos=1

The above is only gonna give you part of the story, because I just copied
the link from within FP's help page.

Please help me find it. Now when I do the include it no longer puts the info
to the along side the data but rather on it's own.

I must have changed something, but don't know what it was.

URL is tatersacs.com Please check The Series - Improve Your Business Writing
then at bottom click for sample
lesson

Thanks for all your help... Me again...

| Rob,
|
| I'd tried that. But when I got to "Inc it took me to increased. Never
| showed Included. Am I missing some help files?

You are using an include page as right aligned DIV at http://tatersacs.com/s_improve_writing.htm
as
<!--webbot bot="Include" U-Include="sample_list.htm" TAG="BODY" startspan -->
followed by a left aligned paragraph (<p align="left">
So they will display in series (Include followed by the paragraph)

In order for them to display side by side,
- You need to create a 2 column table for your page w/ the paragraph in the left column and the include page in the right column
Remove your include page
Create a 2 column 1 row table where it was
Select all of your page text and cut/paste it into the left cell
Insert your include page in the right cell

The 2 column table worked great. Sometime when this thing is up and running,
I'm going to go back and investigate the include page again. I know it
worked it the first time you suggested it. Don't know what I did to screw it
up. So you might hear from me again on it. Hope you don't mind? Thanks
again...Linda
