Share permissions problem

Hi,

I create a share on a DC. I have full permissions on it. I can connect
to it from every workstation I have tried including another with XP,
but on my own XP workstation I cannot.

I get an error access denied - no permissions. I have run net use *
/del to ensure there is not a conflict with another connection. I can
recreate this on a brand new share. I might have access to it for a
few minutes, but an hour later will be denied.

If I connect from another workstation then run back to mine, then I
can connect without error - for a while.

Same problem if I try to connect from command line with net use.

How do I troubleshoot this?

Thanks,

Peter Kaufman

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your posting here.

A suggestion would be to check both the NTFS permission and the Share
permission.

If the problem still persists, please provide the following information.

Do you use offline folder and get the error when you try to synchronize the
shared folder?
Is the Windows XP in your domain or not joined in the domain?
What is the detailed error message?
Does the problem only occur on this certain share folder?
If you create another new share folder on the DC what is the result?

In addition, it will be better that you provide the event logs on the
Windows XP clients.

Thank you,

Regards,
