Hi Alex,
Thank you for the posting. As you indicated you have a windows 2000 domain
controler and windows xp professional as client. The client sessions
disconnect randomly.
In order to verify this issue, we are providing you with the following
suggestions:
Suggestion one:
==============
Please check whether this disconnect issue only occurs in some specific
client or in all clients. Please notice if there is connection number
limitation, it is possible when the number of the simultaneous connection
arrives the limitation, others will be disconnected.
If the disconnect issue only occurs in some specific client, it is client
side related issue.
If the disconnect issue occurs in all clients, it is network or server side
issue.
Suggestion two:
==============
When the client disconnect, please use ipconfig /all to list its IP to
verify whether the IP still remain.
Please also use the following command to release and renew IP to see if the
connection can be reestablished.
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
Suggestion three:
===============
Please create a new network share on the Windows 2000 DC and test the issue
again to see whether the new network share has the same problem.
Suggestion four:
==============
Please use Safe Mode with Network to test this issue so that we can verify
whether other third party programs running at the background can cause this
issue.
1. Click Start, Run, type msconfig in the open box, click OK.
2. Click Boot.ini tab.
3. Check SAFE BOOT, select NETWORK option, click Apply.
4. Click OK and restart the computer.
5. Test to see if the disconnect issue occurs.
If the connection remain correctly, this issue is caused by other program
or services' interference.
Hope the above information and suggestion helps and answers your question.
If anything is unclear, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Cherry Qian
