Two XPpro computers, a 20G and a 40G, pier-to-pier.

The 40 connects to the hdd share on the 20. R/W no
problems.

When the 20 tries to connect to the 40, the following
error occurs:

"\\Office-01\dent is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this nework resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions."
"Not enough server storage is available to process this
command."

Searched knowledge base for the "Not enough ...", no hits.

The printer share is good and working.

This is XPpro -- both the "share" and "allow" boxes are
checked.

Anyone got any ideas??? Thanks -- dnc

That error message is very misleading. The problem is probably that
an antivirus program has changed an obscure TCP/IP setting. Please
see this Microsoft Knowledge Base article for a likely solution,
specifying a value of 15 for IRPStackSize on the 40:

If the IP address is set to Auto Assign, try turning
on "Enable NetBios over TCP/IP". TCP/IP Properties,
Advanced, WINS.

I have found that if this is off not only can the XP PC
not browse the network (although drive mapping works OK)
but other PCs may not be able to browse either.

If the IP address is set to manual assign this problem
does not seem to arise, probably because Windows changes a
heap of setting between manual and auto assign.
