Database developed for local area network but (just found out) the local
network is part of a statewide wide area network and any data entered or
looked up goes to the servers in the capital city and then back to the local
drive. The time delay is about 10 mins. This is outside my control. 3 users
want to be able to use the database on their own computer. The data is
updated approx once a week as roadwork projects are completed at this time of
the year and over the next 3 months.
There is a need to copy the database to 2 other computers each week at this
time of the year. The users open the database using the shortcut on the
desktop. I would like them to be able to copy the database every week onto a
CD or a memory stick without opening the database folder. Then to transfer
the updated database to their own computer without opening the database
folder also.
Could you point me in the direction to go to find a foolproof way to copy
the database onto a CD or memory stick from the shortcut to the database or
from the database itself and them update the database on the other 2
computers. The database will be a single mdb and opened exclusively.
Thanks in advance for suggestions or from anyone who has been there and done
that.
