The default uninstaller should do the job ... yes, it can screw up, but ALL software does ... however, as Abarbarian has pointed out, CC is very good at cleaning up afterwords. It ain't really necessary as you ain't gonna be uninstalling software every hour, or are you? :)

Uninstallers, like Ashampoo's offering, need to monitor your system and at best have a "service" running to do so ... that means you are using some of your valuable system resources of the PC to run a program that you may only use once a month. ;)

If, on the other hand, you do install & uninstall loads of software, then go for it ... Ashampoo do make good programs ... I'd still use CC as well. :D

Ashampoo's burning software is good.

Abarbarian - Thanks for that massive link....i'm gonna need one of them cooler fan thingy's for my head......there was stacks of stuff there. Muckshifter - Thanks also for the advice. To be honest guys that stuff is a little top heavy for me at this stage of my pc career, although i think that with the help of PCR and its fine members i could get up to speed very quickly.
I have a laptop (250Gb,3 RAM)with vista and use google as my browser. Does anyone think it can be improved. Also i hear all this talk about overclocking and cooler fans and stuff. Would someone have a link which might enlighten me to all this joyous info. Please dont say bin the laptop.

overclocking a laptop might me more difficult than a desktop pc.
less space to work with etc & less likely to be able to get a better fan to dissipate the heat on a laptop.

Laptops are not suitable for overclocking, they generate too much heat running standard usually.

Don't bin the laptop ;)

It was too hi tech for anyhow......thanks for the advice though. Its great to get some speedy answers to questionsof which I have a large stack, but a question a day keeps the apples away.(or something).
There appears to be an awful lot of stuff to be had free for pc's. I have spent days nosing around and am still no better off really. How does anyone make money if they're all giving stuff away (not that i'm complaining ,mind).
My next and probably most important question is where do i go to find a base list of programs that must be running in order for my pc to work properly with no frills etc.
Also i'm having trouble navigating around vista. With XP i knew where i stood.
I was never gonna bin my baby LOL(first time ever to use LOL)
