Shadows overlay shapes

When I print shadowed autoshapes from PowerPoint 2003 to Xerox pro 32 color
printer (PS driver), shadows print as solid rectanges in front of shapes.
More, colored patterns print as black patterns. I don't have these problems
using PowerPoint 2000. What can I do?

Are you using gradient transparent shadows? These probably won't print
correctly to PS. What if you create the shadowed shapes in PPT2000 then print
from 2003?
 
I'm using patterns with colored foreground, white background and no
transparency. When the slide is created from PPT 2000 and printed under
PPT2003 I still have the problem. It seems that autoshapes print with
transparent black and white patterns.
 
I don't know if this will help or not, but try reversing your background and
foreground colors on the pattern. It's worth a shot, anyway. (Although I'll
admit I usually have better luck printing pattern fills if the background is
white -- which is what it seems you're using now.)

Another thought:

Does your printer driver allow you to set various resolution modes? If so, choose
the lowest possible and turn off any resolution enhancement features. IIRC, your
Xerox is more or less like one of the earlier Tek Phaser printers; I *know* that
some versions of PPT had problems printing to the Phaser's resolution enhanced
mode. Pattern fills would likely have been one of the things to goof up.

Hello,

There were a number of similar sounding issues which were addressed by a
Windows GDI+ update which was incorporated into Service Pack 1 for Office
2003. Have you tried installing SP-1 to see if that makes the problem go
away?
