Shading

We have a spreadsheet created with some columns shaded in
color. We open the spreadsheet, we cannot see the color
shaded columns (they are still white in color). When we
open preview, we can see the color shaded columns and they
print in color. Why is the shaded formatting showing up
in preview and not when we view the original? Any
solutions?
