Cheers guys for graphic card advice.

But the original question still stands!

Does Shader 3 make any noticeable difference in day to day to gaming, or is it one of those stare at the screen closeup to see if there is any difference type things?

its going to be used in future games, i think.
so a card with it will perform better than a card without it if shader 3.0 is utilized in that game...
just a guess
 
Prob depends on the game as much as anything else. I dont know what games have it, but more and more will prob use it...until Shader4 comes out :)

I dont know if i`d buy a GPU especially for shader3... NVidia 6 series above 6200 or ATI X8xx series will handle pretty much anything available, but I think i`m slightly out of touch at the mo :)
