Hi,

I used to use the above command in start/run in windows XP to verifiy system
files. Can that still be used in Vista?

Thanks

Yes, it is still in Vista. The command needs to be run from an elevated
Command Prompt. Click Start, type cmd into the Start/Search box,
right-click cmd.exe in the list above and select 'Run as Administrator'.

Hi Jane,

I found the cmd.exe, there were 2 of them. But I cant find the 'Run as
Administrator' option.Where is it?

Thanks

Right-click on CMD.EXE and you'll find the "Run as Administrator" option.

Quoting Jane C:

"Click Start, type cmd into the Start/Search box, right-click cmd.exe in the list above and select 'Run as Administrator'."

An easy way to do all this is drag a shortcut of command prompt to the start
menu. To get to sfc, right click the shortcut and select "run as
A-----------." Should work for you. Did for me
