Is there anything like sfc (system file checker) that I
used to run with Windows 95/98 that works with XP?

Thanks, Adam

Hi Adam,

Windows XP does have SFC, but not the same UI which you see in Windows 98. Open a command-prompt window and type SFC/? The option "Scannow" verifies and restores the core system files which are overwritten/replaced by other versions. [SFC /SCANNOW]

If you want to extract one particular file as you did in Windows 98, use the MSCONFIG Expand option or the Expand.exe command-line operation.

Sure is! It's called, not surprisingly, System File Checker (SFC).
