Severe difficulty rebooting

Hello,
I just recently purchased Easy CD & DVD Creator V6
Platinum Edition. I went about installing it and it
informed me that it must remove the previously installed
Easy CD Creator Version 5 Platinum. It started removing
files and informed that it should reboot to continue the
installation. OK Nothing too strange.
The reboot process began and XP hung at blue screen
display prior to the Users login screen.
Finally after remembering the F8 "emergency key" I was
able to enter as administrator using last known good...
Now the system is stuck in 800x600 resolution at 4 bit
color. I have tried all the obvious adjustments attempts
and failed. The display driver is GeForce2 MX7MX400, It
reports that all is OK. I am afraid to reboot now as the
last time I did the blue screen was the result.
An error message opened up and says that there was an
error loading
D:\Windows\System32\NvCpl.dll
I cannot search for that file as the resolution is so low
that the text entry fields are not visible.
Any help, I have no idea what to do next to get out of
this.

NvCpl.dll is the nVidia Control Panel. It's what provides you with all those
extra controls for your nVidia-equipped video card. It may be that EZCD 6 is
not compatible with your video card - not very likely, but stranger things
have happened - or it may be that the dll or some other video file became
corrupted as a result of the EZCD install, or just for the heck of it.

Boot to Safe Mode - which uses the standard Windows VGA video driver instead
of the nVidia driver - and reinstall your video card's software (following
the manufacturer's directions).
