I have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop running a BT 8Mbs internet connection with
Panda IS 2010 security for firewall and anti-virus. Upon start up, it takes
5 minutes for one of the several Sychost NETWORK SERVICE processes to stop
using 90-97% of the CPU %.
Is this normal or can it be rectified?
I have 1GB of RAM and a Intel Pentium 2.0GHZ single core processor. M/S
updates are set for notification only.

WinXP SP2 or SP3?

What anti-virus application was installed before you installed Panda
Internet Security? Was the subscription still current? Have you
uninstalled it? Have you purchased PIS?

Only Panda ever installed. Subscription is current and daily receives
updates. Have tried uninstalling and re-installing.
Thanks,
Phil

I would clear your System Event Log, reboot and immediately after
booting concludes review the log for Errors/Warnings.

Thanks and have found the one error in the system events log:
The BTWSp50 NDIS Protocol Driver service failed to start due to the
following error:

The system cannot find the file specified.

Have found that this file had been removed following a BT dongle uninstall,
but the registry reference was still showing. I have now removed the
registry entry and now the excessive CPU appears to have ceased.
Thanks for all your help.
Phil
