Greetings, and Happy Holiday to all.
I've been having a problem with sneak-in programs being loaded onto my
system by web pages. I have laboriously delteted them from my system
using the 'Ad or Remove Programs' function from the control panel,
which usually removes the program. Now, however, when I look at the
startup tab in msconfig, those items are still there and checked. I
have tried changing them, even gone into safe mode to do this, but
when I restart the machine, there's always that annoying popup
reminding me that I've changed the config.sys, and if I need to
restart again. Whether I restart or not, when I look at msconfig, the
items are checked again. Is there somebody here who can tell me how
do I get rid of these check boxes?
Another problem which relates to the above is when I try to access the
registry where these things are stored, they're not in a registry I
can get to. The OS only shows the HKEY registries, but not the HKLM
or others. Is there a way I can access these?
Any assistance, especially from knowlegable MVP's, is greatly
appreciated. Thank you.
